  As an employee I would seek reimbursement from my employer. Otherwise it can only be claimed as an employee business expense itemized deduction subject to the 2% floor.
  

  An independent contractor can claim the bullets as an expense but the weapon needs to be capitalized and depreciated. Fortunately you can claim the entire cost either as bonus depreciation or as a Section 179 expense.
